T’was a cool Fall night in West Hollywood, not too hot and not too cold… unless you count the hot ass models serving cold as ice looks down the runway. Oowwww! Style Fashion Week is upon us in Los Angeles! After the international shows have came and went, the West Coast scene is taking the stage showcasing some of the best in the west; so far so fierce!
The venue this season is Pacific Design Center, the stage is outdoors and takes place on the buildings large fountain reservoir (like literally on top of it) with the colorful, artistic architectural building as a backdrop, quite a lovely visual presentation if I do say so myself. The festivities commence around 5:30 with a cocktail reception/mingle madness, though being that it is LA guests arrived about 7:00 which was the starting hour of the show. Yeeaaaahhh! Alls to say it did not start at the scheduled call time… we all on CPT apparently.
Day one of SFW started wild and wonderful featuring designer Julia Clancey who hails from London and falls nothing short of a magical unicorn of a human being. Julia’s opening show which was the longest running and presented the highest number of looks (like over 30) was just STUNNING and dazzled us not only with her sparkling, glistening, Egyptian Goddess/ 70’s inspired zeitgeist of a collection taking us all back to Studio 54 disco era! They say save the best for last but holy guacamole this woman stole my heart at hello not only with these faaabulous designs but her crafty showmanship and favor towards theatrics… This is really what I LOOOVE to see in a fashion show! Get in them incorporations! Not only were her models all basically professional dancers but these bitches* can roller skate and they are doin all types of cool shit down the runway and blowing my mind! It was AMAZING!

So that was the jump-off, a pretty tough act to follow but definitely woke us up, all who had gotten there early and been starting to fall into an angry fashion rage. Namaste. Following Julia’s stunning show was A’QUA Swimwear which was nice, reminded us all where we were to be able to have an outdoor swim fashion show in the “Fall” thank you Yeezus. (Won’t he do it!) Next was K. Rashae which was pretty fierce; speaking of Yeezy, it gave me a bit of a flashback of that Kanye video with Teyana Taylor (see photo vibes) with an athletic/urban/sportswear vibe. Moods of Norway came second to last which was absolutely stunning menswear and apparently now including a few women’s selection which was also very pretty for that more conservative contemporary gal! Last but not least was Shanna Gall which was very interesting, for a more specific type of consumer for sure…. Great music playlist through Shanna’s show the press section was movin and groovin to it! Fantastic!

Overall day one was pretty successful minus a few delays, which was kind of expected coming into the first round of shows. We got three more days to go! Let’s get it! Tune into my snap @ yelhsalleb to see the runway shows and behind the scenes shenanigans!
