This one right here goes out to all y’all fly fellas… I did this just for you!
Fashion Week Los Angeles took place at The BLOC in DTLA, a pretty coo venue to host a fashion show directly in the plaza, midst all the retail shops. The runway was a layout of some AstroTurf, a lil faux grass feel, totes spring… and it was at ground level which made my shitty iPhone pics slightly less shitty. YAY!
The first show which I did not go to (cause holy guacamole sooo many SHOWS) started at 4:00pm and was a women’s wear display, the second show which was only menswear (see I prioritized) was said to start at 7:00pm… again being LA I showed up just before 7 praying to be in good timing, and the afternoon show was still finishing up. Granted, this particular day just so happened to be rainy earlier on which RARELY happens here so I can imagine it prolonged some of the setup… so that being said the men’s show finally got started around 8:30. Thank God they validated parking.
Urbane & Gallant
The show opened with Urbane & Gallant, a very dapper & tailored menswear line which I loooved, the construction was on point and the details looked pretty flawless. There was a nice mix of old school style with a modern touch that we rarely see men wearing so much in the states but reminded me of a less flamboyant depiction of the African Dandies. Especially with the usage of props, these dudes were lookin like they mean business! This is hands down probably my favorite mens style, along with streetwear in the right context.
Marauders World Wide
Speaking of streetwear the other notable designers featured were Matte by Mike Texada who brought structure to the streets, Marauders World Wide who made two piece sequin mens coordinated looks and instantly captivated my heart, not to mention the functionality in his pieces, and Jaywalker who mixed the streets with grunge in a very cool way. Oh and how could I forget my favorite thing ever, ANDROGYNY! YAAASSS!!! I am obsessed with the balance and medley of masculine/feminine in the world of fashion right now! It is AMAZING! 2016! Yes we can! My dudes (and babe dudes) I hope you found this post useful, there will be more for you coming so if you can’t see yourself here, no worries my man friends I gotchu covered soon!
